The Idea

This is a way to warm potential clients up or at least discover what’s wrong with your product/service. The idea here is to reach out to a potential client in-person, on LinkedIn etc. in a way that respects their time and space.

You can say something like “Hey ____, I’m working on a new product and I would appreciate it a lot if you could take a few minutes to give me some feedback on it?”

A warm lead is better

It’s a good idea to get to know the person a bit beforehand, though this isn’t always possible, it really helps if the person sees you as a friendly acquaintance and not a sneaky salesperson – don’t be a sneaky salesperson. Having said that, if the feedback is genuinely positive, then there’s no harm in asking if it’s something they can see themselves buying, and maybe offering a discount for their time.
